Our Company History
Our business has been in our family since it was established in 1875. We started life as a confectionery manufacturer before opening our first cash-and-carry operation in the 1950s, and then in the 1960s we became a delivered goods business. Moving to Hillington in 1994, our warehouse expanded twice over the next two decades to accommodate the successful growth.
The Present
Our business has been in our family since it was established in 1875. The company was a confectionery manufacturer for 55 years before we opened our first cash and carry operation. This quickly developed into a delivered goods business in the 1960s. As was the case with many manufacturing industries, costs became prohibitive and we decided to pull out of manufacturing to concentrate on the cash and carry and delivered wholesale businesses. We moved to the Ainslie Road premises in Hillington in 1994 and expanded the operation twice before our move to Westway in 2023.
The Future
Westway is just the first step into our future. Our 120,400 sq ft distribution centre allows us to increase operational capacity and open even more stores in Scotland and the North of England. The move fits into our 10-year growth strategy, which will improve efficiency and productivity as we invest in the company’s long-term success, and protect future revenue streams, allowing us to increase customer satisfaction. We aspire to become the most frictionless wholesaler in Scotland.
The Team
With over 230 staff, we understand that people are at the very heart of our business. We are a family business and have many different family members working with us. We operate an open door policy where every staff member can talk directly to a director. We live and breathe our values and are Proud of our Filshill Family. That’s one of the reasons why we have a superb record in retaining our staff.
